Our first weekend off together in 3 weeks. It had to be celebrated with a great roadtrip – not only to enjoy our time together but also to take our new car out for a decent drive. The hilly roads of New Zealand are definetly dealt with more easily with more horsepower. Our new car has been dubbed Barry and will take us safely around New Zealand from now on. Another bonus of this car is of course that we are not spotted as tourists that easily.
On our first trip on the south island we ventured out to Akaroa – to see french street signs and just to enjoy this cosy little beach town founded by french settlers. We really loved it. We also went on a dolphin cruise – where I first thought we might end up with a free boat ride. The brochure said: dolphin guarantee – no dolphins – money back. But alas, I was wrong. Dolphins a plenty accompanied our ride. It was absolutely great. Both Claus and I have come to love the ocean.
On Sunday we went to Riccarton Market – according to their advertising the biggest market of its kind in the south. And it was truly great. Unfortunatelly (or luckily) we didn’t have lots of cash on us, so I had to leave painted plates, pretty tea cups and shimmering trinkets behind… oh well, the market is every sunday anyway.
